Safetree Leadership Workshops

The Safetree Leadership Workshops support the development of people in the forest industry and other parts of the primary sector. It’s all about developing and growing team performance by facilitating open communication and positive workplace cultures. This two-day workshop of hands-on and practical activities provides participants with the skills to set the tone as a leader, and will help create safer and more productive worksites.Workshops are run nationwide for both individual businesses and regional groups, which will cover:-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; How to lead a high-performance team – focussed on key results, including safety-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; How to effectively communicate with people with different learning styles-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; How to get workers involved in solving problems and making good safety decisions-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Focussing teams on learning from things going right, not just waiting for things to go wrong.

Wairarapa - Growing People from Good to Great

Wairarapa - Growing People from Good to Great is a regionally-focused programme of workshops and mentoring, bringing together businesses from across the food and fibre sectors with a common goal - to grow their businesses by growing their people. Built on the principles of DiSC personality profiles, this course supports all those in leadership positions to understand the diversity of learning and communication styles within their team. Learning to understand themselves and others, to effectively communicate, motivate, and understand the motivations of those around them. Made possible by the Ministry for Primary Industries, this 12-month programme of bimonthly workshops and ongoing mentoring is designed for small businesses without dedicated HR personnel. It arms participants with the tools to make changes in their workplace, from small daily actions to wholesale procedural measures. Mentors are volunteers from diverse backgrounds in the local community, lending their experience after having benefited from applying the principles of this programme in their own businesses.

Leading a High Performing Team

Building a great workplace culture is a balance of managing processes and engaging people, i.e., meeting HR and legislative requirements as well as engaging team members to co-create and follow effective workplace practices – impacting all important business outcomes. “Leading a High Performing Team” grows the skills and capabilities of current frontline leaders as well as aspiring leaders. Central to the workshops is the theme of effective communication – the ability to convey desired information clearly and concisely, and equally important, the ability to listen and understand the information presented. The interactive workshops are tailored to meet the needs of people with different learning styles and needs. Similarly, participants will learn to adapt their workplace approaches to engage with employees who learn in different ways.

The Ministry for Primary Industries’ annual Good Employer Awards are a celebration of the great workplaces created in the food and fibre sectors.By highlighting great employers and their employment practices, these awards aim to encourage employers across the primary industries to strive for great workplace practices, creating safe and healthy work environments in which employees are supported and encouraged to develop.As well as internally raising employment standards, a wider media programme profiling the winners and finalists aims to change the negative perceptions and stigmas which have long been associated with the sector.
